10 Ways to Minimize Stress During the Holidays |
Chris Young - Founder, The Rainmaker Group
Christmas is a joyous and festive time when families are reunited and warm and lasting memories are formed.
It can also be a time of great stress for many as the rush and commotion of the holiday season frequently culminates with a large family gathering.
These gatherings can be especially stressful due to the wide range of individual behavioral styles that are likely to be present.
Simply put - there is a good chance that your behavioral style is likely to clash with the behavioral style of a relative or in-law. This can lead to unwanted conflict, arguments, and a dampening of the holiday spirit.
To help make your holiday one to remember (for the right reasons!) and as stress free as possible I'd like to offer 10 tips for reducing stress during the holidays...

| Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Results |
Prior to May 6th, 1954 it was a commonly accepted as fact that man could not possibly run a mile in under 4 minutes.
However on that fated day a man named Roger Bannister accomplished the "physically impossible" and ran a mile in 3 minutes and 59.4 seconds.
Was it a fluke that man could accomplish such a feat? Think again... within three years 16 others had accomplished the "impossible."
The truth is that the 4 minute barrier was a psychological barrier rather than a physical barrier and that limiting beliefs were keeping many from accomplishing the feat of running a mile in under 4 minutes.
What limiting beliefs do you have that are keeping your from realizing your full potential?

| Featured Guru - Daniel Goleman |
Daniel Goleman is an internationally renowned author, psychologist, and science journalist.
Goleman is best known for his ground breaking work in the field of Emotional Intelligence that provided a whole new framework for thinking about intelligence and how to predict success in the workplace.
We've all known friends or family members who didn't live up to the expectations set by their achievements on standardized tests and other measures of intelligence, or have known a seemingly average student in high school who went on to achieve unparalleled success.
Goleman wanted to understand this phenomena. To him, standard measures of intelligence were insufficient in predicting the future success of an individual. He felt there had to be more to predicting an individual's likelihood of success.
To Goleman the answer to this phenomena was something called Emotional Intelligence - an individual's capability to perceive, understand, and react to the emotions of those around them - which he has found to be the single largest predictor of workplace success.
This week we'd like to feature an article by Daniel Goleman titled The Trouble with IQ which explores the problems of using IQ and other standard measures of intelligence to predict an individual's success in a job.
